Set in a strong 9ct gold, this superb antique brooch features two bright bezel set amethysts bordered by a beautifully decorated heart shaped frame featuring  24 seed pearls and  6 claw set peridots.  These colourful gems blend beautifully together on this stunning floral design

Jewellery which combined peridot, amethyst and diamonds or pearls together was often referred to as suffragette jewellery, as it was in these colours that the suffragettes were thought to communicate to each other that they supported the suffragette movement.  (Green for 'Give', White for 'Women' and Violet for 'Vote')

This piece of history is not hallmarked but it has been tested for 9ct Gold.   It measures 4cm long by 2.5cm wide and it weighs 3.37g.  It does have a top hook for a bale to be attached so that this could be worn as a pendant.
