Here is a stuningly beautiful antique, suffragette ring in wonderful condition.
Set on a strong 18ct gold band, this superb antique ring features a large central Peridot sandwiched between two old cut diamonds and an amethyst at each end. All the gems are securly set and catch the light beautifully. The gems sit in a diagonal line between beautifully swirling shoulders which give the ring a unique look.
This little piece of history is clearly hallmarked for 18ct Gold, Birmingham and 1911, which dates back to the start of the suffragette movement.
This ring is currently a UK size P 1/2 (US 7 3/4), but it could easily be re-sized up or down. It weighs a very healthy 2.89g, and it has been cleaned and is ready to wear.
Suffragette jewellery (mainly rings and pendants) were worn during the Edwardian era to show support for the women’s suffragette movement. Some people believe that the colours spelt out a secret message; Give Women Votes! (Green for ‘Give’, White for ‘Women’ and Violet for ‘Votes’.)
